The tribute will honor Anzaldúa's scholarship, poetry, Chicana, queer, "new mestiza" and borderlands theory, and the ways she weaves these strands together, her encouragement of other intellectuals, equally valuing those in academia and those doing other kinds of work (creative, intellectual, activist), her writing about sexuality, her brave enunciation of things that needed to be said, her status as an out lesbian, as well her influence in the visual arts, performance, and many different kinds of activism.
