Local artists collaborate to present Gloria's imagery and strength within
a scripted rendering of Gloria's own poetry, prose and interviews.
2:30 Recuerdos/Remembrances
This will be an opportunity for attendees to share memories and ideas
about Gloria Anzaldúa and her influence in their own lives and
work. Ari Chagoya, a long-time friend of Gloria, and Marcos DeLeon, a
former student, will begin, followed by anyone who is present. Please
keep your remarks brief, out of respect to others who also wish to contribute.

conversaciones sobre la vida y la obra of Gloria Anzaldúa.
A semi-structured roundtable discussion in which Santa Barraza, Sebastián
Colón, AnaLouise Keating, Gloria Ramirez, and an undergraduate
student (to be selected by undergraduate organizations) will each speak
briefly about Anzaldúa's influence and then facilitate a conversation
with all present.
6:30 Reception at Las Manitas Avenue Café, 211 Congress Avenue
A video about Gloria will serve as the keynote address.

Moraga is an acclaimed Chicana
writer and scholar. She and Gloria Anzaldua co-edited the anthology This
Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color (Kitchen
Table/Women of Color Press). Moraga is also the author of Loving in
the War Years: Lo que nunca paso por sus labios (South End Press).

Panel discussion focusing on diabetes but with a view of access to health
for Latinos and other people of color; what it means to have a community
view of health; what barriers in the dominant culture and what barriers
within communities of color affect our health; how definitions of health
may differ for people of color; spirituality's role within larger health

Gloria was one treasured artist, among many in our communities, who speak
for those whose visions and voices have been suppressed. Ana Sisnett and
sharon bridgforth, who are also part of this tradition, are featured artists.

A second opportunity to community members to share their stories about
Gloria, offer their memories and discuss her impact in their lives.
Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting provided.
The tribute is free and open to all.
